Retreat Photography & Visual Storytelling
A retreat is more than a programme, it's a transformation. I help retreat leaders capture the essence of that transformation in images that show potential guests not just what happens, but how it feels.
-
Spaces, food, outdoor locations & retreat leader portrait, everything your marketing needs before the first guest arrives.
-
A full day with your group, capturing the energy, the stillness, and the quiet moments between activities that show what your retreat truly feels like.
-
A curated set of images that captures the soul of your property, for your website, press kit, or editorial features.
Why Book a Retreat Photographer
A guest could photograph your retreat on their phone, and it would cost you nothing. But these photos will only show what happened. They won’t show why it mattered.
People don't book a retreat because of what's on the schedule. They book it because of how they imagine it will feel, the stillness of a shared morning practice, the ease of a conversation over a long lunch, the quiet confidence of walking away changed. My work is to make that feeling visible before a single guest has arrived, so the right people look at your gallery and think: I need to be there.
Why Me
Most retreat photography is shot by photographers who added “retreats” to a long list of services alongside weddings and events. I come at it from two directions most photographers don't have. I've spent years working as a travel photographer across Europe and the US reading unfamiliar light, finding the shot in a space I've never stood in before, capturing a sense of place instead of just a room. And this September, I begin training as a Meditation & Positive Psychology Coach, alongside my background in Cultural Studies/Philosophy, which shapes how closely I pay attention to what a retreat is actually designed to create: the stillness of a practice, the shift after a group session, the quiet confidence of a closing circle. I'm not just pointing a camera at a schedule, I'm paying attention to what the moment is for.
That background also shapes how I think about your retreat's visual story: not a set of pretty rooms and smiling faces, but a narrative that reflects what your retreat actually offers, rest, transformation, connection, belonging.
How We Work Together
01
A short call or message to understand your retreat: the programme, the group, the mood you want to lead with.
02
I build a simple shot list around your retreat's real rhythm (arrival, practice, meals, free time, closing circle …), so nothing important is missed, without anything feeling staged.
03
During the retreat, I move quietly through your days as a near-invisible presence. No directing, no “look at the camera”, just real moments as they happen.
04
You receive a curated, fully-edited gallery within days, ready for your website, social media, and press.
What Changes After
– A gallery that shows potential guests exactly what “I need to be there” feels like, not just what's included
– Marketing images that work across your entire funnel: ads, website, brochure, email
– A visual library you can draw from for months, not just for one launch
– One less thing to hold during your retreat, you focus on your guests, I focus on capturing them
From a carefully laid breakfast table to the last light of a shared evening, I capture the details that make someone think: I need to be there.

FAQs
Do I need to plan my retreat around you?
1
No. I build my coverage around your existing schedule. I'm not there to direct or add extra tasks to your day , I document what's already happening.
What about my guests' privacy?
2
You, as the client, are responsible for obtaining model releases from identifiable participants prior to commercial use of the images, happy to share a simple release template if it's useful. On my end, I work quietly and respectfully: I won't chase private or vulnerable moments (one-on-one sessions, personal conversations) for the sake of a dramatic shot, and I always step back if someone signals they'd rather not be photographed.
Can you film video as well as photos?
3
Yes. Short-form video and reel-ready clips can be added, ideal for showing the energy and flow of your retreat on social media.
Do you travel outside Austria?
4
Yes, and happily, I'm based in Upper Austria but I'll travel worldwide for the right retreat. Travel costs are quoted separately.
Can you also shoot my own portrait during the retreat?
5
Yes, a retreat leader portrait is already included, and I'm happy to build in dedicated portrait time.
Is my retreat too small to book a photographer?
6
Not at all. Fewer people often means more genuine, unposed moments, not fewer good photos.
